  • Iowa District East Youth Event Health Form.  This form has been revised by the District Youth Committee.  We require this form to be completed and signed by parent or guardian.  Each participating youth must have one of these forms for each event they attend.  Return the completed form to the youth counselor who is attending the event with your child.  The youth counselor is responsible for the collection of this form and for bringing it along with the group to the event.
  • Youth Events for Iowa District East are being updated by the Youth Commitee. Watch the monthly professional packet for upcoming events. Resource books will be coming out this summer.  We are asking Youth Counselors to register with the District Office.

YouthDVDs on Loan--The District Video Library has purchased a video and four DVD movies and the rights to show them. Contact Pam to reserve your movie today.  They are available for youth groups on loan. The titles are:

The Home Coming (video)
The Ride (DVD)
Road to Redemption (DVD)
Something to Sing About (DVD)
The Climb (DVD)

  • Usage of Videos for Youth Groups--Lots of churches do and many of them violate copyright law unknowingly. Renting a video from your local Blockbuster (or other video rental outlets) does not give you the right to show it to your youth group unless you have a license. A license can be obtained from CCLI (the same as for music) except it does not cover major studios. The best advice is not to use them in a youth group setting in your church or youth room.

  • College Information--The Lutheran Educational Conference of North America (LECNA) which is made of ELCA and LCMS affiliated colleges and universities in the United States and Canada has provided resources for high school students and parents interested in learning more about these educational institutions. Please share these websites with your high school students:
    • www.collegevalue.com is a family-friendly college planning website that describes the quality and value of a Lutheran college education.
    • www.lutherancolleges.org/collegefairs provides details on Lutheran college fairs that will be held this Spring. The website provides complete details, including exact locations and lists of colleges that will be exhibiting at each fair.

  • thESource--A new electronic program resource for youth ministry called "thESource"  provides the best in youth ministry materials from Bible study to drama to insightful articles on organizing youth ministry in congregations. They will also archive the best in youth ministry materials produced over the last 35 years.  If you are interested in providing materials or writing for this project contact youth.ministry@lcms.org
