POBLO (Cedar Rapids) -- People of the Book Lutheran Outreach (POBLO) is an international mission society dedicated to reaching out to Muslims and other ethnic groups with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. POBLO began in 1992 and is now the largest mission society in the LCMS. POBLO currently has missions established in over 14 districts of the LCMS, as well as in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and India.

POBLO's mission in Cedar Rapids, Iowa began in October of 2004 when they received office space at Trinity Lutheran Church. Since that time, the mission has been busy establishing English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, creating a food and clothing bank, and providing immigration services to the local immigrant / refugee community. POBLO has also become a clearinghouse for foreign language Bibles with nine languages represented and over 23 bibles distributed to churches and individuals in the two months since Jan 2005. POBLO workers are also available to speak and do presentations for churches and other organizations.
