Rocky Mountain District Event at the National Youth Gathering!
Our district has planned an event for the day prior to the beginning of the Gathering on Friday, July 27, 2007. All youth and adults are invited to enjoy the day the Universal's Theme Park, Islands of Adventure. The package price for tickets & T-shirts is as follows:
- 1 Day/ 1 Park ticket (Is. of Adv.) AND a District T-shirt ~ $40
- 2 Day/ 2 Park ticket (Is. of Adv. and Universal Studios)
AND a District T-shirt ~$65
Even though our district will designate that Friday as the day for our district, your group can use the ticket(s) any day - 3 days prior to the Gathering OR 2 days following the Gathering. So, if your group decides to purchase 2 day tickets, you could go to one park before the Gathering and 1 park afterwards. Of course, we strongly discourage groups from going to theme parks any time DURING the Gathering. Keep in mind the added cost of hotels and food if you plan to come early or stay extra days after the Gathering. Hotels will be honoring their Gathering rate 3 days before and after the Gathering.
We are blessed that LCEF (Lutheran Church Extension Fund) will again make luggage tags for all NYG participants (youth & adults).
Click on the link below to open the order form for your luggage tags. There is a submit button on the form which will email in your information. You can also print the form and mail it to the district office attn: Laura or fax it to 303-695-8001. If you have more than 16 youth you will need to submit multiple forms. Make sure the congregation information is on all of the forms.
If your group has decided NOT to purchase Islands of Adventure tickets, yet would still like to have a T-shirt, they will be available for the cost of $6.00. Please figure out sizes (S-XL, add $1 for XXL) in advance of placing your online order. You will be able to pay by using credit or debit card. T-shirts will be shipped directly to the Primary Adult Leader or church, whichever you request. (JoAnn & Wendy may deliver a few local ones.)
Note: Your Rocky Mountain District is helping financially to bring down the cost of the District Event and T-shirt.
Staffing the District Booth during the Gathering
If your youth group or part of your group would be interested in staffing the booth for an hour or two during the Gathering, please contact Wendy or JoAnn. For those who visit the booth, there will be a simple activity, able to sign a banner, and some novelty items to hand out. The exhibit area where the booths will be is open Sunday, Monday and Tuesday from 11-6. We can then make up a schedule closer to the time of the Gathering.
We are still asking that your youth group send us snapshots of you in action as you are fundraising, sharing Bible study, or during any other fellowship times. The photos will be used at our booth at the Gathering and will be returned to you afterwards. Mail photos to either one of us. Please include a self addressed envelope for return and MARK your pictures on the back.
In the upcoming months, once you have your hotel assignment, you will receive information on how to contact CPS, a shuttling company that the Gathering has contracted with. You will need to arrange for your group¡¦s round-trip transportation between the airport and hotel. (cost could be $25-30/person) The hotel shuttles will not make these trips.
As we get closer to the Gathering, we will be compiling information in order to have a paper, handout directory that lists each congregation in our district, the hotel they are staying, all adult leaders, and names of youth. We will include phone numbers for the hotels and emergency numbers (cell phone) for adult leaders. We will NOT include cell phone numbers or personal information on any youth. Both of us will also have our contact information included, just in case.
